When Ada Cresswell said goodbye to her beloved husband she little realised that she would years later fall in love with Walter Pickles, the grave digger who buried him.

After a whirlwind romance, and much to her daughter Ruth's objection, Walter and Ada marry. Leslie, Ruth's husband, has no problem with their relationship or marriage, but then he has little say in anything!

Our Review: A charming, feel-good sitcom, For The Love Of Ada contrasts the down-to-earth, relaxed nature of aging malapropism-prone widow Ada Cresswell (Irene Handl) with her toffee-nosed daughter Ruth, and their respective relationships.

The series stands up remarkably well for a show of its age and kind. Whilst there is ageing in many of the attitudes portrayed in the series, the situations and characters have an air of timelessness about them, and so continue to ring true almost 40 years since the show's production.
