Estate agent, Tony Marchant is unable to break free from his mother's apron strings and looks jealously towards his married older brother, Roy. He is reluctant to bring his girlfriends home as mother quickly scares them away and so his main hope of freedom is to persuade her boyfriend, Captain Bingham, to marry her.

Our Review: After his success in My Good Woman, the star was unable to replicate it with this comedy and spent most of the remainder of his career hosting game shows. The theme was to reappear with greater success in Sorry! as Ronnie Corbett mastered the role of the dominated son.
