A year later, all the holiday makers are back at the Solana Resort for more sun, sand and all-inclusive drinks. There were a couple of additional holiday makers tagging along this time too: Telle's baby Coolio, and Granny Madge's new 'boyfriend' Mel, who is the owner of five sunbed shops and Didsbury's answer to Julio Iglesias.
The 2009 summer special cleared up all the un-answered questions from the Series 2 finale. Will Mel come out his coma? Will Mick be left stranded in jail? Will Janice run off with handsome waiter Jack? Will The Oracle ever reach dry land? At this point the show switched from half-hour episodes to hour long adventures.
Set one year after the hostage situation, the third series saw the characters take up the offer of a free holiday given to them by the Solana Resort. Martin seemingly returns without wife Kate, choosing instead to bring a mystery loud scouser as his holiday companion. Meanwhile, Mel is busy setting up a new shop...
Madge is in financial trouble. Meanwhile, Les becomes a member of staff and invites his teenage son Liam to holiday at the resort. There's a whiff of a Benidorm holiday romance brewing for Liam who takes an immediate shine to new girl Natalie, but her friend Sam has other ideas. Also on the poolside are Gavin's new holiday companion Kenneth, and Noreen's daughter Pauline.
New characters in the 8th series include The Dawson Family, pretty staff member Amber and Tiger's friend Joey Ellis. This series also sees characters including Troy and Pauline returning after a number of series away.
