The resistance's plans to return the airmen to England by catapulting them - with the aid of 200ft of knicker elastic - in an antique aircraft toward Dover, are put into motion. Meanwhile, Gruber sets about copying the Fallen Madonna, and the rest of Nouvion prepares for the vintage transport show arranged to disguise the escape attempt.

Meanwhile, Gruber is given the painting of the Fallen Madonna to copy, even though René's mother-in-law has got hungry and bitten off the corner with the signature.
