Cavity is an off-beat comedy-drama, written by Sean Grundy, about a woman hiding in the recesses of a house.
A story about sex, betrayal and the housing market, Cavity is a love triangle that follows its own surreal logic.
Kirsty is having an affair with a married man, Adrian. When Adrian's wife, Lucy, returns unexpectedly from a business conference Kirsty hides in the attic. Lucy hears noises above and goes to investigate. Kirsty, in a panic, falls down the back of the attic into the cavity wall. A story then unfolds which combines the domestically mundane with the utterly bizarre, backed by a soundtrack mixing James Blunt with Henry Purcell and a smattering of power drill thrown in for good measure. Cavity explores ideas around adultery, romantic love, personal space and the boundaries of human and material ownership.
Our Review: A completely mad idea. 100% totally off-the-wall (...or should that be in-the-wall, do excuse us).
It worked though. The idea of a woman living between the walls of her house and having a sexual affair via carefully drilled waist-height holes is both funny and intriguing. It certainly kept us captivated for 45 minutes.
