"Ooooh innee bold!"

This documentary celebrates the camp double-act Julian and Sandy from classic BBC radio comedy Round The Horne, whose catchphrase "Hello, I'm Julian and this is my friend Sandy" was alone enough to spark audience laughter.

Written by Barry Took and Marty Feldman, Round The Horne followed straight man Kenneth Horne who found himself beset by a variety of bona scenarios each week, being mercilessly sent up by the innuendo-loving duo Julian and Sandy, played by Hugh Paddick and Kenneth Williams.

Paddick and Williams helped introduce the gay slang language of Polari to BBC listeners. These two characters captured the hearts of the nation at a time when being gay was illegal, with writers often having to fight the censors.
