The first episode of the second series sees George and Beverley discussing the possibility of attending their own memorial services. This bears considerable similarity to an idea in Geoffrey Palmer's earlier sitcom, The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin.
Gerard Foster's 2002 Edinburgh comedy, God In A Box, contained a similar mixture of gardening and animals. This time the focus was a hamster.
