Carry On Doctor trivia

A portrait above the hospital lifts depicts James Robertson Justice, who played the formidable Sir Lancelot Spratt in the Carry Ons rival Doctor series of films. The painting bears the legend "Sir James R. Justice - Founder".

Carry On producer Peter Rogers' wife Betty Box was behind the Doctor films, whilst Carry On director Gerald Thomas's brother Ralph was their director.

Joan Sims was originally offered the part of Matron, whilst Kenneth Williams was initially disinterested in the role of Dr. Tinkle.

Some sources give the release of Carry On Doctor as December 1967, whilst others have a specific date in March 1968.
