The Light Programme was a BBC radio station which broadcast mainstream light entertainment and music from 1945 until 1967 (at which point it was replaced by Radio 1 and Radio 2). It was responsible for a number of now-famous BBC series, including The Navy Lark, The Clitheroe Kid and, most notably, Hancock's Half Hour. |
