Dyer & Whitney answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions

Image shows from L to R: Andrew Dyer, Michelle Whitney

Andrew Dyer and Michelle Whitney are back for the second year running as a comedy duo, with show You and I.

1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?

People kept telling us to write a comedy show together and become a duo (having graduated from The Royal Academy Of Music in Musical Theatre...). We started last year with a show at Leicester Square Theatre London, then Edinburgh Fringe last year...and we thought we'd come back for more!

2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.

Fun, silly, quirky, sketchy, free, musicy, friendly, unique, hidden gem, free, different, surreal, charactery, free, this is getting tricky now...a MUST see!

3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?

We're not sure, to alleviate the stress we should have written the show much earlier, done some previews, and had some posters...but planning isn't our strong point! We hope to bring our unique comedy to more people, some press, and anyone who would like a laugh and a badge! (We did organise badges...)

4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?

We're hoping word of mouth...but maybe begging, or blackmail. It's FREE too, that's got to swing it!

5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?

Our aim is to make at least £10 a show so we can pay the young boy Chris who is doing our tech #Fact

6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?

Weirdest experience was having to find a new venue with only 4 shows left to do because old venue didn't want to be in the Fringe any more...it was definitely an unexpected spanner!

7. What other shows are you hoping to see?

We have a few friends in shows so hopefully we will get to see them, time slots allowing - and possibly anything that involves Bette Midler (Dyer) and musicals (Whitney).

8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?

Anyone funny, and some of our favourite personalities Angela Lansbury and Michael Jackson, for an all star encore!

9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.

Perhaps a connection to last year's experience...and the Gruffalo (too tall for Whitney).

10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?

This is a very good question. It's FREE, the bar has cocktails, and we have a full show of comedy gold that we can guarantee you will have never seen anything like it before!
