TLC (hospital sitcom featuring Tim Brooke Taylor as a loony hospital chaplain)
Sky's Little Crackers.

Has The Liver Birds NEVER been released? :O Crime against comedy.

There was a single release from Universal Playback about a decade ago - Series 2 & 3 set IIRC. Nothing before or after.

Getting rid of my enormous collection of VHS tapes and came across tapes of Liver Birds, Next of Kin and Faith in the Future. I wonder if I should hang on to them -- they may never be released on DVD. Also just came across Screaming (Carla Lane) - which I am going to watch again - and So Haunt Me. Also not available on DVD as far as I know. I suppose I could burn them to DVD but the quality is poor and, being from commercial television, abridged and full of advertisements.

Always worth keeping unreleased programmes, I think. As long as you retain the VCR to play them on of course!

So far, my experience with VCRs is that they seldom last more than a couple of years. I have two around and only one still plays tapes although both units have DVD players -- both of which still work. I don't think I've seen a VCR for sale in a shop recently so it may not be a long term solution..

This whole exercise of combing through boxes of VHS tapes has made me wonder if, a few years from now, I'll be tossing my DVDs because my collection is all on a chip embedded behind my left ear....

P.S. ... also found bits of 2.4 children.....

I forgot he was in it. I just remember Reece Shearsmith.

It's quite fun seeing old ads.

I used to like the comedy series The Young Person's Guide To Becoming A Rock Star which I could never find on DVD.

Yeah, as Peter said, it's on VHS and I've got a copy. Thought this was a great show. Have the soundtrack album too. We Love Cowdenbeath and Why Won't You Shag Me? being particular highlights! (EDIT: In fact, put this on to listen to just now -- cheers for the reminder!)

Back to the why isn't it released bit: obviously, Freezing -- potentially the best sitcom of recent times. Utterly superb and tragically dropped after only three episodes. But those three episodes were absolutely premier league sitcom.

Mind you, sod it -- if the BBC did release it, they'd only do DVD and not Blu-ray, just to piss me off further.

It was supposed to be released by 4DVD a couple of weeks after it ended. Mind you, they very rarely issue Blu-rays either.

Of course, it wasn't filmed in HD in the first place, so this Blu-ray discussion is irrelevant.

I got Tlc from a charity shop for a pound a few months back - it got a DVD release 10 years ago!

Absolutely !

I get pissed off with this 'must have a BR' thing.

'It was recorded in 1972, Prickhead!'

Angry

I must have a Blu-ray if it's a modern show...

Granted, granted.

And if I had a Br player and was buying something like a new Attenborough I would too.

Blu-Ray was invented to cope with, but not exclusively for, HD video. If you have a BR recorder you can get quite a lot of SD programmes on to one disc.

Sorry to bring this up again but I've scoured this fascinating database (not just pornography) called the Internet and I'm still none the wiser, in fact I'm pretty stupid. But does anyone know why Happy Families has never come out? (I promise this is the last time I say this question / Melanie C / the f-word.)
