Not Going Out - Series 7

Just got an email from "TV Recordings" advertising a series of script run throughs for Series 7.

http://www.tvrecordings.com/

I saw some of these a few years back and they're well worth going to as you see what works and what doesn't.

Well, I have got to be honest I felt that Series 6 was quite poor compared to the first five series with Tim Vine. Saying that though, I did think the "Christmas Special" was quite funny.

My thoughts exactly although the first episode from last season "Rabbit" was really good and the second episode "Skiing" was pretty good too.

I think it's time Lee finally hooks up with Lucy and they call it an end to it this season although I wouldn't be surprised if they extended it to another season.

Was work on this series delayed due to the now-aborted Raymond remake Lee Mack was going to be in?

They're changing the format this year which I think will be a nice change and hopefully make the show a bit fresher!

Go to the read throughs and make your suggestions. You never know.

Series 7 recording dates are now in our guide, if anyone wants to check their diaries...

Tickets are likely to be available next month.

I think this whole show can be somewhat hit and miss. Some episodes are excellent, others are so awful I can't finish watching them.

For example the one where Lee Mack pretends he is blind to enter a competition on the internet is excellent. Tim Vine has a car accident and needs Lee as his witness, but he is "blind" so can't be a witness. It descends into a excellent farce (with the throwing of the World Cup mugs so "blind" Lee can try to catch them).

Also the Life on Mars episode is excellent where Lee has a car accident and goes into a coma. While in the coma he dreams that he and Lucy get it on (and his dad keeps appearing) and eventually Lee and Lucy have about 15 kids.

Also the one where Lucy pretends she is pregnant after Lee has had a "Barclays Bank" in the bath is very good, plus the one where the old lady wanders into their flat.

But others are so contrived and forced they are hard to watch.

Like when Tim Vine brings home the wrong coat from a nightclub with loads of drugs in the pocket and he realises it is a drug pushers coat so they go out and try to buy some more drugs. Can hardly bear to watch this.

Also the one where Lee gets a sports injury and hires someone to give him a massage and it turns out she is a prostitute. He and Tim have to go and find her... (not sure what happens next as I gave up as it was so contrived).

There was also the contrived "camping" one where I also gave up before the end.

They do show these regularly on Gold (or is it Dave), and I do try to watch them, so I must like it, but I must admit I do find myself giving up on some episodes as they are very forced and just not funny.

I also did feel Miranada Hart was very funny in the shows she was in (I do notice a lot of anti-Miranda posts on this web site).

Also Bobby Ball is generally excellent as his dad.

I agree with some episodes being difficult to watch like the movie one where he accidentally agrees in letting a porn movie be recorded in the flat.

But I think the majority are excellent. In any show that gets done it's going to be hit and miss with some episodes.

I was surprised there is no photo of Megan Dodds on the front of the series 1-3 box set

Yep great night out.. Would have happily gone to see them all if I'd had the chance! Awesome little intimate theatre too!
