Newsnight piece about depression. Sometimes I think every other person is suffering. What's wrong with our society that life has become so hard? Our ancestors lived in such horrible circumstances so why can't we enjoy our 'better' life?

It's more of a chemical imbalance, rather than an environmental influence.

It is the growing economic imbalance in our society. Possessions are never enough when others have more. Anthropologists say that the happiest societies are nomadic hunter gatherers where no-one owns anything.
