Newsjack - Series 6 Page 21

Should I take it you used "adult" puns with JK?

Yep :D, completely - like, Harry Potter and the Orgy of the Pheonix - though that certainly wasn't the strongest of the lot.

last week the crowd seemed really into puns taking great pleasure in growning/laughing at underwearbomber/needs a brief joke so don't discount it. I wrote a sketch where she reads from new book and is basically a dirty potter but got bit rude so I sent it to newsrevue and wrote a cleaner one for newsjack submission

So we've all had very similar sketch ideas - curious to find out which one they go with.

To be honest I'd be surprised if they go with any of them! Not least because there'll be too many to choose from (and that in itself means it's 'too obvious' for Newsjack, as a general rule).

True, it was the obvious angle - but you never know. I'll use this as a lesson if they don't use any.

Well at least I can claim originality if nothing else. I covered John Sentamu in the Sun on Sunday, Doctors going on strike and Miles Jupp on Let's Dance.

Let's hope they're up for a little ribbing of their former host.

I've went for:
(1) The Apprentice intro parody with the work experience scheme at Tesco
(2) An unsuspecting realtor marketing a three story, eight bedroom property in Pakistan owned by an international celebrity

Also, Newsjack just tweeted this, so I think there may have been a few JK Rowling sketches.

The first episode of last series I sent them an app with Miles insulting justin and that got no where. Although may have to do with the app and not the subject

Yeah, their tweets are very telling, I liked this one:

"It's probably best if you don't send us one-liners that are word for word identical to ones that actually went out in the show last week."

Speaking of which - Big Jack, did you enquire about last week's joke that was virtually identical to your credit from an earlier series??

I'm pleased I went for clean diary sketch now. although the sketch I sent to newsrevue was just filth!

Teary Only got two sketches off this week. One with the Emily Bronte painting selling below estimate and another exploring the spat between Elton John and Madonna and their rival Oscar parties. Neither one fully edited as with work I ran out of time.

I have just sent my corrections, one liners and apps off though and I am pleased with them for a change. Like many others I suppose I added more puns than usual as some of you have already noted they seemed popular last week.

Good luck to you all and as Madonna said just before arm wrestling Elton, "Let the best man win".

On the plus side, at least none of us associate the word 'child' with pornography. (hopefully!)

I went with;

1) The theft of the London charity eggs
2) A sketch on video piracy using Pirate Bay going underground as a jump off (although that was last Wednesday so probably not topical anymore)
3) George Osborne and the UK economy

Don't hold out much hope for any of them but it's all experience.

To be honest I can write off my JK sketch (it's probably too generic) - I'm always worried about submiting a diary sketch in case the week I do they decide the form is too played out.

thats always a worry, but you can't second guess what they think so just write what you like and hope for the best
