Holy Flying Circus

This is terrible in so many ways.

Fortunately, a genuinely funny and insightful sketch about Life Of Brian and Pythonism in general was done back in the 1980s...

I've laughed a few times, I'm liking it. The Palin?Jones thing is a bit weird though.

That's just his wife isn't it?
But played by a man.

Oh, that's probably not what you meant.

I'm enjoying it, it's pretty fun. That guy does a good Cleese.

Maybe.

He's very, very good at it.

Maybe.

I think they're just having the women played by men. Palin's mum was also a bloke.

Do you think they're saying something about the relationship between Palin and Jones or something?

The men dressed as women thing is just a Python joke, that's all.

Yeah. Nil's just being a big suspicious Simon!

Yes, you're probably right.

Well, I did wonder.

:D

The Pythons have always said that the LIFE OF BRIAN was about Brian, and not Jesus, yet the very first scene has Jesus farting.
Was this a parody of a documentary?
Wasn't the crucifixion of Christ a serious subject?
LIFE OF BRIAN, although a comedy, was a serious film.
This production was an unfunny disgrace.
Wasn't exactly Frost/Nixon, was it?

I'm shocked to hear there was a modern comedy production that didn't meet your approval, Charlie.

Wasn't exactly Frost/Nixon, was it?

Maybe not, but then would it really have helped to have tricky Dick harrumphing through the whole thing throwing up victory signs and lying to a nation?

Played by Palin, as it were.

I'd like to have seen some backstory-why they made the film.

All the story seemed to be is that made a blasphemous film and people got annoyed. Mind you story wasn't the first thing in the writer's mind...

Yes, I only realised that near the end. I'm quite slow.

I actually enjoyed the repeat showing of Friday Night... Saturday Morning much more. I found myself taking the side of Malcolm Muggeridge and the Bishop, which is probaly not on at all.
