Comedy you want to like, but don't Page 6

Maybe you don't like happy people?

Noel Fielding's Marmite.

Something that is easier to justify is my hatred of Noel Fielding. To me, he isn't a comedian just someone who dresses up in weird costummes, walks on stage, and then says words in a random order, which people seam to find hilarious, instead, I just find it awkward to watch.

If you've seen his stand up, then you know that's not really true.

But yes, he's a type of comedian that many will either love or hate.

Ed Reardon's Week. Everyone goes on about it here (and Alison Graham does as well), but I listened to it a few times and found it very uneventful.

Roger and Val Have Just Got In. It felt like I was watching soemthing a bit special but couldn't get to grips with it. Used to think the same about Beckett but gave it another try and really enjoyed it.

Those who have posted about CYE, far from being leftfield Jewish humour, much of it owes a debt to Laurel and Hardy; dumb and dumber dreaming up stupid schemes to avoid trouble with their wives and of course it all goes wrong.
Larry David accidently poking Ben Stiller in the eye with a cocktail stick is not smarty pants humour, but one of the funniest things I've seen.

I quite agree

listened to it many, many times but it's very dull IMO

The Likely Lads

Only because my partner bought the boxset and I'm being forced to watch it!

2 blokes moaning at each other all the time is not my idea of a decent sitcom.

Stick with it. Granted, The Likely Lads does drag on occasion - but Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? is wonderful.

Extras.

Loved The Office and really looked forward to Extras.

Detested it from pretty much the first minute and stopped watching after about 3 episodes.

Hate it!

Shame.

Couldn't have put it any better myself. For me, The Office was genius, but Extras was a lazy way for Gervais to have his ego rubbed and meet all his heroes (just for one day).

Noel Fielding's Marmite.

Is that a niche gay porno?

Noel Fielding's Marmite.

As opposed to 'dynamite'.

Personally I prefer Marmite to dynamite.

That said dynamite on toast really gets you up in the morning

The Goon Show.

So many people rave about it, but I've literally forced myself to listen to 4 or 5 shows and it didn't raise so much as a smile.

I don't get it.
