Take a peek and if you want more info go to Beyond the Pole's facebook page. This thing was shot on floating sea ice off the coast of Greenland and is not like any other indie flick you will have seen before. And the best thing - it's a British comedy feature that it is...wait for it...funny!

Much as I like Sephen Mangan's work, just reading the synopsis made me squirm with embarrassment and the thought of actually watching this fills me with sadness and misanthropy. Best of luck with it, however. :)

You're clearly a big fan of the film, wowthatsbonzer. It's a pity you couldn't have been involved with the making of it in some way.

:D

Hi Tim. What have you written? Love to hear more!

Now now, we don't like passive-agressive remarks and sarcasm around here, you know... :) (Still, gives you a reason to bump your thread, I suppose. ;))

I forced myself to sit all the way through Brit-com I Want Candy last night on Sky, so don't say I haven't done my bit to support homegrown comedy on the big screen. Pleased

FYI - I am currently working on a screenplay for a low budget Brit flick entitled Three And Out: the premise being that a discontented British film producer (who has already made two absolute turkeys) realises that under a quirk in the rules of showbiz, if he produces just one more painfully unfunny British indie flick, he automatically becomes eligible for a cushy life as Head of Development at Film Four.

Oh dear - hope this doesn't make you any more miserable! Just saw Beyond the Pole got another cracking review from Eye for Film (4 Star!)
Now Come on Tim - give in - Beyond the Pole rocks! (And Im not even mentioning the listing in US Examiner which mentioned BTP as one of the top ten films of 2009! oops!!! just did eat that!!!)

This is almost textbook PR. Your supervisor must be very proud of you.

repeat after me: Mangan is my God and rhys is the new little baby Jesus!

Beyond the pole is coming and resistance is futile, yeah baby!

Hey! I just saw the trailer for Beyond The Pole and I must say...it stinks!!!

It looks like it was made for a grand total of 35p, the 'carbon neutral' joke was done to death in the trailer, so Christ knows how many times it's used in the actual film and the only bit that made me almost laugh was the spitting in the mouth - but as you can tell, I'm quite retarded and infantile.

The idea itself is semi-original - though how it will stack up against The Mighty Boosh and Top Gear, who've both done hilarious polar antics, is anyone's guess? As I'm anyone, here is my guess - it won't be as good.

On a more postive note, I'm sure it will fit in nicely with the other British comedy films released recently such as Lesbian Vampire Killers and St. Trinian's 2 - see, you get to be part of a genre, isn't that exciting for you?

As you're quite keen to include review quotes, here is mine 'Beyond The Pole is beyond a joke - in fact so far beyond, that you'll want the eco-heroes to fail and the world to become engulfed in a giant Tsunami so you can forget what you just saw.'

In case you'd like to know my writing credentials, I recently penned 'Gary is a bender!' in my local pub lavatories and I must say, the reviews are awesome.

Top night. Thanks lads. My supervisor just came!

US Examiner which mentioned BTP as one of the top ten films of 2009!

WTF?!

Doctor Who says: 'Beyond The Pole is the best comedy film of of 1938. I watched it with Hitler in Berlin and he loved it. Afterwards he killed six million Jews.'

Jules Verne says: 'What a load of Morlocks. It should be buried 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.'

Marty McFly says: 'Maybe in the future, there will be a cure for Parkinsons? Nope, guess not. At least I died before Beyond The Pole came out, so every cloud, etc...'

I think it's something to do with the curvature of the earth.
Time passes twice as slowly at the Poles, and four times as slowly when you're watching something with Stephen Mangan in it.

hey renegade - you're funny (if a little uptight!) 12th feb ICA. Don't be late! I'll be looking out for your little angry duck face at the front of the theatre!!
