Twas brill. Cool music, too.
I liked the music, but the movie was just unnecessarily grim and pointless.
They were obviously going for moody in the first half, but I just found all the silence and smirking irritating.
Gosling was miscast and his character was wholly unrealistic. He's showed in other movies that he can handle dialogue brilliantly, so why not give him something to say in this one?
It's one thing to be a strong silent type, but to just stand there refusing to engage in conversation with people for no good reason is verging on autism.
The second half of the film, when the plot begins, just seemed to be an excuse to wipe out the entire cast in a series of spunk-the-budget gory FX shots.
Unnecessarily nasty and not nearly as clever as it thought it was.
But yes, the music was nice.
