I understand, but if you live in Tinytowne, UK, where there hasn't been a murder in 40 years and there's a shooting every minute 300 miles away in Upper Gangland, you'd probably want to provide clarification if someone called the UK a murderous death trap.

I'm not calling the US a murderous death trap, I'm just saying an average has to take into account everything, which is why your clarification is misleading when you decide to talk about the 'average American' and assume it's someone like you. Why not a cop, who are killed at a rate of one a week? Or the family of the 2 people shot dead per day by those cops? Well they aren't even in the figures, are they, because they weren't officially murdered.

Clearly the true average American lives in a country with far more gun-related problems than the UK.

How interesting, turns out I'm wrong.

For years I've been saying that the UK is more overall violent.

But it's just more honest UK reporting.

Apparently the burning issue in Scotland tonight is Gregg's decision to stop producing macaroni pies. Nicola Sturgeon's father has commanded her to join the campaign against it.

Please make pie subsidies the SNP's first campaign - lol.

Ironically the UK has been downgrading GBH etc.. also. You may have noticed crime figures in this country have been running a bit like GCSE results, getting better each year. I guess it's all relative, and America is better at suppressing.

The US has no efficent method of measuring people killed by police.

Where as the UK seems to have a knee jerk hysterical response to any deaths by armed police (conversely very little interest to the far higher number who die whilst being restrained.)

I really don't give a fudge about an armed crook, shot on the way to rob other crooks. The RAF can drop a brimstone missile on his car for all I care.

The Washington Post estimates it to be 2 people shot dead a day by Police, according to the Today programme this morning.

A terror attack in France today. One bloke decapitated and a power station blown up so I understand.

Also one in Tunisia.

And Kuwait.

It's time to retaliate I think.

THE LONGEST DAY:

Chappers if you have a large family then you have little choice but to go for the bargains at Thomas Cook. According to the brochure the views are to die for.

Leaving on a one-way trip to Syria (cloudy with a chance of drone attacks) is fine. It's when they want to return home with passports in hand that they become a worrisome problem.
