hello vincent
i'm looking forward to seeing The Visit. i read a copy of the pilot script and it was funny.
all the best.
Hi Welcome back Vinny, me old mucker,
Just watch this on line and it's good, very good had me laughing out loud many times
Has a "Smoking Room" feel to it, which for me is great. BBC3 back on form.
PS Vinny get a foot wank in the first episode, and he call it work.
Well done all involved, masterpiece in the making me thinks.
This is the one!

I watched this on the web and it was okay. I know why Vincent enjoyed filming
Wasn't the main character from Early Doors in this with the same mother? It threw me thinking, 'Are they the same characters?'
Quote: ajp29 @ July 15, 2007, 1:04 AMDidn't know you were a fan of the stone roses David.

I'll be blunt; I wasn't a fan. I only watched the first 10 minutes as the characters started to irritate me. But congrats for getting on tv anyway! Anyway, I doubt you care what some fussy 18 year old thinks about it; everyone else seems to be giving it a good response. Did you say u say u wrote it, Vincent? If so, how many other shows have you sent/been commissioned at the BBC??
Vincent, is an actor (in this he play "Blind Pete")
This show was written by Tony Burgess who also acts, last seen playing Johnny Vegas brother in "Ideal", I think he live in the hall cupboard.
Also wrote Ideal.
i thought The Visit was ok, but was typical of the "safe and gentle" style that BBC do these days.
Enjoyed this, some great gags nd a decent story. I agree with the other fella that the "safe and gentle" style is becoming the norm in bbc sitcoms at the moment, a backlash maybe to the Nighty Night Days. (which I thought was great aswell).
However I think this "gentle" style is perfect for The Visit because it's not what you expect. What you're expecting rom a sitcom set in a prison visiting is something full of chavs, smack heads and dodgy twats. Going off the first ep, this show doesn't bother with the obvious, it is played rom the pov of the family. If it just had a few more great gags in like the T shirt one I'd be hooked.
Didn't see Episode 1, but saw Episode 2 online, it was okay, didn't make me laugh much, a couple of smiles here and there, it's just a bit samey, like a lot of other recent stuff.
I liked it. It had some really funny lines.
Liked the crotch scene, Vincent, as it shall now be known. Is it embarrassing watching stuff like that back with your kids?
(I may have invented the fact that you have kids, but I'm sure you've mentioned them....)

I too liked this. I loved the religious nan & Vinnie you were fab. No easy task playing a guy with non seeing eyes.
I will be tuning in next week.

BIG.. Thank you's to all who have responded to 'The Visit' wether good or bad !
i feel as with most good sitcoms it will probably take a couple of ep's for people to give a shit about any of the characters, but i think they will(especially visually challenged salami pants Pete!)
hope that most will stick with it,was a bit sorry to hear that someone switched over after ten minutes, don't know too many new sitcoms that grab you by the gonads in that short time,..anyway..it has never been my intention to defend The Visit, more intention to do my best and earn the respect of you Sitcom scholars
..Vinny
I haven't seen it yet... was going to catch the repeat on Thursday.
I keep meaning to iPlayer it. Will do by the end of the week!
hope so chaps..gonna be really indulgent myself and watch the repeat tomorrow at 10pm..bump the viewing figures up a little..
Ha ha, but do you have a Nielsen box?
If it's repeated tomorrow, I'll try and watch then.
got no idea what a nielson box is but reckon it sounds dodgy! how quickly can i get one....
It's the magic box that they use to record how many people watch programmes.
Basically, they pick a bunch of households whom they reckon represent certain hugely-generalised aspects of the population. They hook a box up to the TV, which makes a record of what's watched, for how long, and (as I understand it) there's a remote control of some kind so you can tell it every time someone enters or leaves the room. It's wildly inaccurate, but the best currently available. In the US, one box represnts something like 6.5 million people. Something ridiculous anyway. I'm sure Mark will elaborate at some point...

Hear that? That's the sound of a million comedy writers dying.

well..now i know! Barb or Neilsen, hope they get an accurate idea of those who watch
with the recent BBC 'lets tell porkies even to kids',it's hard to know what to beleive from Aunty
gets repeated tonight, wonder if they add them all up?...aah..que sara..i was astounded(and delighted) that it was reccommended veiwing of the week in the Observer and the Times!wish i knew someone who read those broadsheets..everyone i know gets the jitters anywhere beyond the Daily Star
My Grandad reads The Times, if that helps?
Was just wondering after the screening of episode 2 what people's opinions are on The Visit.

second ep seemed slower than the first, although I have been watching season 1 of scrubs on DVD all day, so got my brain wired to quickfire comedy, and am generally a bit comedied out. Might give it another go this week.
I seemed to agree with Ged. Part 1 introduced the characters well and there were lots of good gags.
I did enjoy it though. Still better than lots of other so-called sitcoms!
I do like the idea of a sitcom in just one scene. Quite a challenge - like the Smoking Room - and probably cheap!
I'm looking forward to Pete's phone up the bum though.
god Bless you David!there are a million gags regarding 'phone up bum' acting, and you have resisted all of them
Sundays episode is my favourite, but maybe thats because i got wriggle, giggle and vibrate for a whole week
keep in touch chaps..Vinny (Blind Pete)
What's your number?
I AM ENJOYING THIS.
Vince you are doing a great job with your acting.
I will be tuning in again every week till the end.
AWWW..thanks Charley, have had a mixed response but mostly positive
On Sunday it's my favourite episode as there is lots of phone up bottom acting which was a giggle (and wriggle!) to film..You have really cheered me up..thank you
..Vinny..p.s a fansite has been set up on myspace but i will check with Mark if it's cool to put the address up..don't want to tread on toe's(but would love you to check it out)..

Just to expand, this isn't a Nazi regime. As long as it's legal, you can link to it. Boards which don't allow linking are pathetic.
Thats Brilliant!some sites get a little retentive when it comes to links to sites
should have known you guy's would be fine with it but still glad i checked even if i did embarrass myself a tad
hoppe that a couple of you good people will check it out..and maybe join..i am shamelessly trying to generate as much interest as poss..would love a second series..filming the first was fanflippintastic..Love from Blind Pete
http://www.myspace.com/the_visit ..... just realised that it would help if aswell as going on about it would help if i actually put the link up...
It got pretty shit scheduling though, Vince. I mean... This time of year, when half of the country is already, or about to, go away for a week or two on holiday?! Luckily I have access to, ahem, 'acquire' such programmes, but anyone who doesn't is kind of stuck.
Tried the link but wasn't working try again later.
Loving the Visit can't decide weather it a good or a great sitcom, Steve Edge has come a long way since Phoenix nights top notch performance,
Bet you forgot to ask John Henshaw about Early Doors didn't you Vinny.
Bring on the second series, more Blind Pete.
Who's John Hensaw (see Background of http://www.myspace.com/the_visit )
thanks Barry.i did ask John Henshaw about future Early doors and as i think you expected there is no plans for anymore
sorry me old mate, hope the Visit might keep your chuckle muscles busy..take care..keep in touch Amigo..Vinny
Sorry I've been a bit late on this one. Nice one Vinny. I caught the show last night. I work shifts so it's difficult to watch stuff.
Good news for fans, the DVD of the first series is released on July 21st, can't wait to re-visit this series. Please please excuse the pun.
