Not Going Out - Series 6 Page 9

It's strange how we are all different.

Now I am a huge fan of NGO, I have been to a recording of every series (except the 1st series), maybe I was just in a naf mood but I found last night episode one of the poorest ever, On par with the "Porn" episode a few series ago.

Far too much shouting and only few funny lines (mostly from Daisy).

The trouble is my expectations are so high.

I think I can agree to a point. There is always moments in NGO that make me groan - more so, perhaps, than any other popular studio audience sitcom (note I said 'popular', so not Two Pints etc) but it's counter balanced with good stuff. There were bits I would have cut out - like the Yoda-talk joke. Is it me, or has Yoda become a sort of cult comedy figure over the last few years or so. I think it ties in to the geek-fashion prevalence since about 2007). Lee shouted too much, but then it was a high-tension situation and kudos for having it in real-time. The foreign woman was funny and had some amusingly withering looks for Lee before she even spoke. The 'How was I to know she would look round?' joke was very clever. I thought the cable car scene with Jaws in Moonraker would get a mention, but maybe it's too obscure now. I'm surprised there's ever any groan-worthy bits in there as Lee's autobiography shows him to be an incredibly articulate, perceptive and knowledgeable writer of comedy. I think Tim would have been funny in this one - he would have panicked, maybe even try to take charge, even though he's unsuitable for such a role, but we don't need both Tim and Lee panicking so maybe it's just as well.

I must admit I'd completely forgotten about Tim. I guess that's a resounding success for Mack and Peak.

And Two Pints was very popular, Dave. 10 series are not commissioned of a programme no one watches.

Losing Tim was just like Losing Arthur in On the Buses.

i loved the first two episodes it was very good and I agree with david smith It's not the same without tim just like arthur out of onthebuses will he return in the series do you know anything , Aaron do you know that tim that is not is not arthur lol?.

Tim will not be in this series at all and is not expected to ever be in the show again.

He's apparently gone off to do other projects - what other projects? I suspect he's kicking himself now that he did not carry on with NGO.

Series 6 is going to be poor without Tim. Episode 1 was OK episode 2 Skiing was very poor. I would recommend that they get rid of Daisy and bring in Bobby Ball, now he is funny. Watched that new Anna and Kay series, that has put me off Katy for life. It is supposed to be a comedy. It is absolutley CRAP. Why do those two slappers put their legs up in the air, that is disgusting and not at all funny.

Less calling women slappers please, thanks.

Oh, I learned a new expression. Didn't know that one.

If next episode is bad I will stop watching this. Tim was a major loss to the show. It isn't funny anymore.

Oh I know that, but I thought people always poured scorn on it?

I wonder if it will have an 8th series.
