And here's that chart for you - http://www.officialcharts.com/archive-chart/_/1/1970-10-24/

When I look at charts from that era it makes me sad for kids today.

Even the crap had its certain charm then. Today the best singles are often crappy.

Every six month or so I really intend to buy this album...but I keep forgetting. I heard a lot of good things about it, there's more to it than just the legendary single.

Nick Cave - Hallelujah

Is it any good? Is it available on CD?

I knew a few Thunderclap Newman songs and loved them all - even Wilhelmina (is plump and round).

Later live with Jools. alt-J.

Totally agree.

Well, apart from Des and Dorothy Squires maybe. :)

It's an excellent album. All the singles and some more quirky stuff like the 10 minute album version of Accidents.

The piano is something of a one-trick and doesn't feature that much.

Yes. It's available on CD at all good internet outlets.

Peter Mallan - These Are My Mountains

Runner Up in the short lived Scottish Song Contest.

The winning entry proved to be much less popular.

Listening to Santana live album Lotus from 1973.

I never got it on vinyl because being a triple album it seemed very expensive at the time and as I had all the studio albums I couldn't justify it as a poor student.

I managed to get it on CD though and have just dug it out after several years. That is par for the course considering the size of my collection. Loads of hidden/forgotten gems and some I've never got around to playing.

Anyway Lotus has some great versions of tracks like "Yours is the light" and "Every step of the way" as well as the classics "Oye como va" and "Black magic woman".

The only things is you don't get the massive fold out sleeve of the vinyl.

Carlos doesa little bit of "My favourite things" in the middle of "Incident at Neshabur."
