The Sitcom Mission 2014 Page 20

Hi. Please excuse my ignorance. Are you talking about the 'Scriptroom 6' sitcom scripts here? And if so do you get back to all entrants as the confirmation of receipt email stated "We will email you at this address as soon as we have considered all submissions"? Thanks.

Hi Ringo

Script Room is part of BBC Writers Room. Details are here:

Cheers, Declan

Got my feedback today! Thanks very much! :)

Value for money, Jane?

We're delighted to announce that Ben Boyer, Head of Comedy Development at Sky TV and Saskia Schuster, Head of Comedy at ITV, have agreed to be judges at The Sitcom Mission 2014 industry showcase at the New Diorama Theatre on September 18. More names to follow.

That's pretty cool.
Well done.

Well done guys.

The two courses are essentially the same, so which you choose depends on whether you can make weekdays or not.

Advantages of the 8 week course: longer to develop your script. More homework/feedback. Longer interaction with fellow students.

Advantages of the 2 Saturdays: Good for those who can't do weekdays. Cheaper (and saves on travel, too).

Really you pays your money and takes your choice.

Are you running any of the '2 Saturday' courses between now and the end of 2014? I had a look via the link but I can only seem to see details for the 8 weeks courses and not the Saturday ones (hmm perhaps that's a clue?). I would also like to know what the price difference is between the Saturdays and the 8 week course.

Thanks!

Hi Deferenz

You've pretty much answered your own question in that we're not planning any more 2-Saturday courses until next summer. The college usually charge £250 for the weekend courses and £395 for the 8-week courses, but they often have 20% discount windows/promotional codes and you get 10% off if you book two courses at the same time, which I think also covers two people booking at the same time (but you'll have to check with the college).

Hope that helps. We've got a taster course this coming Wednesday if you'd like to come along and see what we're about:

On Thursday September 18th we'll be holding the industry final of the Sitcom Mission.

We're staging 4 rehearsed readings of new sitcoms in front of an audience that includes Ben Boyer (Sky) and Saskia Schuster (ITV).

We kick off at 4 o'clock and should be through by 5:15.

Entry is free, but there are no allocated seats (because we're not selling tickets) so if you'd like to come, get there early.

The 4 in contention are:

Adapting Rob Bond
Minicab Detective Laura Harvey
Mostly Human Joanne Lau and Mat Rees
Warts and All James Alleyne

We're at the New Diorama Theatre which is at the junction of Tottenham Court Road and Euston. Details of how to get there are here: http://newdiorama.com/about-us/finding-us

Let us know if you're coming.

Simon and Declan

STOP PRESS Our writers have several very high profile literary agents who are coming to the show. Fingers crossed...

Amy Hoggard star of Almost Royal recently completed our 8 week course.

Is that where she got her improvisation skills from? (Apple for the teacher...)
