Remember Kinvig, Clone, Not With A Bang? These are the UK sci-fi sitcoms you're unlikely to see on comedy best-of lists...

There is no reason to feel sorry for Dapper Laughs

Personally, I've always been a fan of comedy that was on the borderline between funny and offensive regardless of the topic, religion, gender, race etc. I didn't mind, it's probably why I had Dapper Laughs videos practically owning my Facebook News Feed, which I did find somewhat amusing, but once that line between white and black had been crossed, causing a murky grey inerasable mess, that's when it went "too far". But what is just "too far"? Was it the actual line "gagging for a rape", or was it the aftermath of him blaming society and not accepting the consequences?

On any given year, the mammoth Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme can feel as overwhelming as it does appetising. As artists and their audiences descend on the Scottish capital, preparation is key to successfully navigating the world's biggest arts festival while avoiding decision fatigue. Lead critic Natasha Tripney presents this guide to Edinburgh's essential stages...

Natasha Tripney, The Stage, 27th July 2015

Taking on my love/hate relationship with Edinburgh

I have a love/hate relationship with Edinburgh, forged over 30 years of attending it regularly -- first as a student producer (where I brought student shows up from Cambridge for three consecutive years from 1983-85), then as a critic. But over the past decade I've skipped more years than I've attended.

James Cary's top 10 sitcoms, #4: One Foot in the Grave

One Foot In The Grave is a modern classic and the one show that gives me hope for the modern-day, mainstream sitcom. It appeals to all ages with its mix of recognisable situations, absurdities and tapping into the frustrations of modern life and bad service. The show is permanently waving a defiant fist at the universe.
